Highland Middle School
Overview
Highland Local Schools is located in southern Morrow County and serves the towns of Sparta, Marengo, and Chesterville. The schools are the foundation of the community as school-sponsored events are well-supported by parents, students, alumni, teachers, and staff. The goal of developing well-rounded students in a safe and caring environment where every student is known and valued is shared by all. The middle school is located at 6506 State Route 229, Marengo, OH 43334.
Daily Schedule
The school day starts at 7:30 am and ends at 2:25 pm. Students may enter the building at 7:00 am and should report directly to the gymnasium. Students are dismissed to to their lockers at 7:25 am. Breakfast is served from 7:15-7:25 am. Students will have a block (two periods) of English and Math. Each class period is 43 minutes in length.
Students should be picked up and dropped off at the front of the building/main entrance. The lot behind the school is reserved for school buses. Parents and family members: when signing out a student, the individual must be listed on the students’ emergency medical information

Charging policy: Students may not exceed $10.00 in charges or they will be served an alternate lunch. A la carte items cannot be charged.

Technology
We are fortunate to be able to provide each student with a Chromebook (computer) that they carry throughout each school day. Students do not take Chromebooks home; instead, they pick them up each morning and return them each afternoon. We utilize many tech tools to aid in the learning process at HMS, such as.
Personal cell phones are to be kept in lockers at all times. Students will have their phones confiscated if they are being used.
